The transition of parent/child to child/parent is one of the most difficult for both. I cared for my mom at home for over 2 years. She had Parkinson’s and Alzheimers and became unable to do anything for herself. The hardest decision I ever made was to place her in a nursing home. She passed within 2 months. It took a very long time for me to overcome feelings of guilt on top of the grief of her loss. It took me over a year to actually cry. Grieving is so difficult. Trying to live but grieve the loss pulls you in two directions at once. I tend to focus on the living, and have a very difficult time going to the place of grief. It’s such a vulnerable, overwhelming place I think we can only take so much at a time. God’s grace, bringing it back in cycles. Thanks for sharing Nicole and Paul.
